Creativity has no borders, or rules. Sound and vision always can be blended into something new and original, something never heard or seen before. It is fun to confuse the audience and give them new experiences, an abracadabra of audio and video. But in order to do so, one can't be bothered by conventions and commercial necessities. This was a reason for the aBraCaDaBra International Electronic Music and Media Art Festival's organisation to not get any sponsors when first starting the festival in 2004.
Positioning electronic music and multi-media as an art form of it's own, next to ballet, classical and painting, aBraCaDaBra tries to get their message across by featuring performances by artists that have crossed borders and explored possibilities. Just to mention a few: Zeena Parkings (USA, pioneer on electric harp, introducing this classical instrument into modern music), Daddy G (UK, known for his work as member of Bristol's ground-breaking triphop collective Massive Attack), Venetian Snares (Canada, mixing punk, electro and funk), and Ikue Mori (Japan, composer, performer).
