Petr Mamonov One of the most influential and template-free personalities of the Russian rock, Pert Mamonov was born on April 14, 1951 in Moscow. Being still a kid, he showed incredible artistry in such extraordinary ways that was twice expelled from secondary schools for "fooling around". His officially stated education level is put like uncompleted high education but incompleteness didnt prevent him from mastering four foreign languages. Pert took all possible jobs before jumping into music: loader, bathhouse attendant, elevator operator, typesetter, proofreader He is a lifetime poet, and since 1980 a songwriter. In 1992, Pert formed Zvuki Mu band. Where this mysterious title hails from is lost in history and completely forgotten. In the very beginning Zvuki consisted of Petr (vocal, guitar) and his brother Alexey Bortnichuk (percussion, guitar). Later Pavel Khotin (keyboard), Alexander Lipnitsky (bass) and Alexander Fagot Alexandrov joint the band. In 1985 Zvuki Mu plunged into extensive concert activities composed mostly of acoustic apartment concerts and performances within Moscow Rock Laboratory. Since 1988 the band had scores of foreign tours Hungary, Poland, Italy, Germany, France and participated in major international festivals. Zvuki Mu identified themselves as Russian Folk Hallucinations a wild blending of music, poetry and theatre. A. Troitsky introduced Zvuki Mu to the legendary English musician and producer Brian Eno (David Bowie, Talking Heads, Roxy Music, U2). Eno took a great interest in unconventional music and expressive stage alter ego of the frontman, so he offered collaboration. In 1988, Land Records released Zvuki Mus self-titled English album. The band went on a UK tour arranged by Opal Records and two American tours under Warner Brothers. The tours succeeded in all respects and Zvuki Mu were deeply appreciated by the press, but after coming back to USSR they unexpectedly announced breakup.

Petr Mamonov acted in 7 films: one of them "Taxi Blues was awarded with Festival de Cannes Golden Palm and another "Island" received 6 Golden Eagle prizes, including Best Male Actor. In Stanislavsky theatre Petr starred in two plays: Bald Brunet and No-One Writes to the Colonel. In these plays he acted both as an actor and a director.

In 1995, leaving behind over-the-top pleasures of shaking-the-stage life, Mamonov secluded himself from society in the Moscow neighbourhood forests and settled in his wooden house somewhere near Vereya town to bother with about two dozens of cats and read Holy Writ. Sometimes he comes back to sing new songs and present his one-man show to the Moscow aesthetes.

Petr says: I don't rank myself among musicians or active art and culture personages. I am just me, Petya, coming on stage to dance and reveal what I have in my heart. I stage plays only because Apostle Peter said Serve where you are called. I was called to serve on stage so I will serve this way as long as I can.

Petr Nikolaevich Mamonov is an anxious conscience of the Russian rock, a poet handling words as if they are stakes coming from his throat, a man who escaped to come back and reveal us the truth. His concerts combining songs, monologues and theatre actions, are fascinatedly thrilling: kind of funny, kind of shocking with shivers down the spine and one pulsing thought - Genius! Tonight Petr Mamonov performs new program "Quite Recently... and Again!"
