19:00 Le postillon de Lonjumeau
Adolphe Adan belongs to the amazing “generation of talents” of the early 19th century. Adan has remained in musical history primarily as the composer of the ballet Giselle, but many of his other works, including the opera The Postman from Longjumeau, were popular during his lifetime. By the end of the 19th century it had been staged more than 500 times in Paris and more than 800 times in Berlin. In Russia “The Postman from Longjumeau” is not so well known. In St. Petersburg this opera was performed in 1837 by a German troupe. In the XX century, the performance was held in the Kuibyshev Opera and Ballet Theater. In 2023 on the stage of the New Opera “The Postman from Longjumo” was performed in a concert version. Music critics noted the lightness, flightiness, playfulness and French elegance of the music and performance. The plot is based on the incongruous story of Shaplu, a letter carrier who possesses a beautiful voice. After marrying the innkeeper Madeleine, he immediately leaves for Paris at the invitation of the theater director, the Marquis de Corsi, who has heard Chapple sing magnificently. Ten years passed, Shaplu became a soloist of the Paris Opera Saint-Farom, Madeleine received an inheritance from her aunt and now calls herself Madame de Latour. Taking advantage of the sympathy of the same marquis, she invites opera stars to her home. Saint-Far does not recognize his wife when they meet, unlike Madame de Latour, who not only recognizes her, but decides to teach her frivolous husband a lesson.

19:00 Pagliacci
Opera in two acts to music by Ruggero Leoncavallo. Libretto by Ruggero Leoncavallo. Music Director: Anton Grishanin. Stage Director: Hans-Joachim Frey. Sung in Italian. Presented without interval. It’s 1910 and a silence movie team is on the film set where they prepare their next production: they rehearse and shoot a film. It’s a work between production, preparing, comedy, tragedy, reality and film illusion. In the Prologue, the audience and members of the film production team are warned that the performance they are going to see is based on real events and devoid of pretense. A group of actors come to the production place: Canio, the head of company, his wife Nedda, Tonio, who also is the film director, and Peppe. They invite everyone on stage and in the auditorium to see their show. They start to shoot. The actors are asked out for a drink. Canio and Peppe accept the invitation. Left alone with Nedda, Tonio takes the chance to confess his feelings for her. Nedda scorns him and drives him away. They start to play between shooting the film, rehearsal, and reality: alone, Nedda is visited by Silvio, a member of the film team who has been in love with her and wants her to leave Canio for him...
