19:00 Pablo Garibay (Mexico)
Praised as phenomenal by the General-Anzeiger newspaper in Bonn, Germany, Mexican guitarist Pablo Garibay has established himself as a leading force on the international classical guitar scene, with his pioneering interpretations of well-known classics and impressive performances of lesser-known masterpieces. An eminent performer of the great Guitar concertos notably those by Rodrigo, Vivaldi, Guiliani, Castelnuovo-Tedesco, Manuel Ponce and Villa-Lobos, Pablo Garibay is particularly known for his interpretations of Latin American music having performed premieres by contemporary composers Ernesto Garcia de Le?n, Di?genes Rivas, Mateo Barreiro and Ernesto Cordero. As a concerto soloist, Pablo Garibay made his professional debut with the Orquesta Filarm?nica de la Ciudad de Mexico and has since appeared as soloist with orchestras throughout Europe and the Americas. He made his US debut with the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra working with JoAnn Falletta from whom he was described as being a guitarist of rare sensitivity, nuance and musicality. Recent performances have included appearances with the Virginia Symphony Orchestra and New Britain Symphony (USA), with the Salzburg Chamber Soloists, the Orquesta Sinaloa de las Artes and Orquesta Filarm?nica de Acapulco (Mexico), the Orquesta Cuidad de Almeria (Spain) the Orchestre Royal de Chambre de Wallonie (Belgium) the Nieders?chsisches Sinfonieorchester (Germany) and the South African Chamber Orchestra with whom he performed the South African premiere of Manuel Ponces Concierto del Sur in Pretoria, South Africa. In addition, Pablo Garibay has appeared at major international festivals throughout France, Germany, Great Britain, Italy, Lithuania, Poland, Romania, South Africa, Costa Rica, Mexico and the United States. A winner of no fewer than 16 international prizes, including 1st prize at the prestigious International Manuel Ponce Guitar Competition (Mexico City), the Ren? Bartoli Competition (Aix en Provence, France) the JoAnn Falletta International Guitar Concerto Competition (Buffalo, USA) and the International Guitar Competition Aachen (Germany), etc.
