I have noticed a darkening of my gums in between my lower front teeth. can anything be done to reverse the problem?

By the description you gave I could imagine that there is calcification on the surface of the teeth which is under the gum showing dark. So, not the gums itself but the space between teeth and gums- at least that's the most common thing- and it can be removed with a scaler by the dental hygienist. Other reasons could be existing crowns that would cause the color of the gums to change by oxydative processes. In that case it would not be reversible, but gets better when exchanging the metall of such crowns/caps. Best regards, VG
