Question:
|
|
|
I would ideally like to rent a property (large flat or small house) with the following characteristics: (1) centrally located (as close to the Kremlin as possible as will be working near there), (2) very near a very good school (for a 3-4 year old) and (3) with outdoor space (e.g. a ground floor flat with a garden or patio), as we have a dog. I appreciate there may not be many (if any) properties in Moscow fitting this description but please let me know what area you would recommend and a rough estimate of rent range. Thank you!

Dear Boris,
Thank you for your question! There are a number of international schools and kindergardens in Moscow, but most of them are located not in the centre - either North, South or East of Moscow. The traffic distance from these locations to the centre varies from 40 minutes to one and a half hours so driving to work is a challenge, but there are quite a lot of good quality housing options near the schools (both apartments and houses in compounds), so most of our expatriate clients with kids opt for these locations. They usually decide based on the school itself (which one they like better) and distance to the office (for example if your office is in Tverskaya area it is more convenient to go northern direction - to Anglo-American, British School or International School of Moscow. If on the contrary, it is located eastern part of the centre - then English International school is a better choice).
At the same time there are 2 kindergardens in the centre, so this is also an option if you would like to minimize your traffic time to work. In terms of housing options in the centre of Moscow there are only apartments - there are no houses at all. And unfortunately the way it is set up in Moscow, residential buildings rarely have an enclosed territory where you can walk with dog.
So most people in your situation have to make a choice between central location and locations outside of centre, but close to schools and parks. I shall be happy to provide you more information on different areas, please let me know which setup seems more appealing to you in the moment. Also could you advise where your office shall be located? You mentioned it is near the Kremlin, but knowing the address I can advise which of the non-central areas work better for this location.
Would you also let me know roughly your requirements for size of the property (number of bedrooms) so that I can give a more accurate information on current rents in Moscow.
Looking forward to hearing from you! Best wishes,
