Question:
Hi There,
I am looking to come to Moscow with my company to implement a project likely to last around 3 months. Our office is around Karamishevsky proezd. I would be looking for a 1- or 2-bedroom apartment that it not too small and ideally walking distance to good restaurants / bars etc. It should also not be too far from the office to avoid lengthy commute / traffic. My questions are:
1. What locations would you recommend based on where the office is and requirements above?
2. What sort of cost are we looking at per month?
3. Could you recommed any intensive Russian language courses for english speakers once in Moscow?
Many thanks!
Andy G
Answer:
Dear Andy,
Thank you very much for your questions. A three month apartment lease is challenging, as most landlords seek leases of 1 year or more. On occasion there are landlords looking to rent out there flat for a couple months. Current average market prices for long-term leases of quality renovated, medium-sized (60-115 sq.m), 1-2 bedroom apartments to the northwest of the center range from $4,000-8,000/month. Perhaps a more viable option for you is to rent a serviced apartment. There are several agencies that offer them; I can recommend Intermark Serviced Apartments, website www.intermarksavills.ru/short-term-rent/ or www.intermarksa.ru, phone +7 495 933-6295. Although most of their apartments are located in the city centre, they do have some apartments off of Zvenigorodskoe Shosse which leads out to your office. The prices to rent those for 3 months range from 3,800-5,200 roubles/night ($160-220/night), depending on studio, 1 bedroom, or 2 bedrooms. In December 2007 a bridge near your office was completed and it makes the traffic there heavier, so if you want to have a reasonable commute to work yet live in an area walking distance to restaurants/bars, best to consider the the Ulitsa 1905 Goda area to the east of your office and the Oktyabrskoe Pole area to the north.
As for Russian Language courses, I could recommend you to both Berlitz International (www.berlitz.com, 7-495-225-8590) or the Russian Villlage (www.rusvillage.com, 7-495-225-5001). All the best,
